Responsibilities:

• Help define the future vision and consolidation strategy for Attribute Reputation services
• Design and develop scalable, secure and testable backend solutions
• Build and enhance REST APIs that deliver attribute insights to digital services
• Improve existing services and reduce maintenance overhead through incremental re-architecting
• Support the adoption of managed services and simplified technology stacks where appropriate
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, data engineers and wider teams to develop effective solutions
• Contribute to database design and application development with strong security and data protection principles
• Support operational excellence through monitoring, reliability and incident resolution
• Work within a continuous integration environment and contribute to automation and testing practices

We are hiring for a Scala Engineer to join a team within a major government fraud detection and prevention programme focused on protecting taxpayer data and tackling organised repayment fraud. Our Attribute Reputation team delivers insights that help identify suspicious activity by analysing large volumes of transactional data and deriving risk scores from historical patterns. We work closely with data product teams and digital services to deliver secure, scalable and user-focused solutions. This is a 6-month hybrid contract based in Stratford, London, with a competitive rate of £620 per day. We offer the opportunity to contribute to large-scale fraud prevention and data-driven services, with IR35 status noted as Capgemini mandated PAYE only.
