'Entry-level' jobs asking for 1 year of experience — is anyone else fed up with this?

Applied to an 'entry-level' Technical Writer listing today that wanted 1 year of experience minimum. At what point does this stop being entry-level? How are new grads supposed to break in?

I'd add: don't be afraid to just ask directly, most people are more open than you'd think.
