Job description
Your mission
The Applications team builds, maintains, and operates the solutions that collect high-quality sensor data
from large freight and offshore vessels - data our customers rely on via SCADA, web, and other on-board
applications. At the center of our work is the Software Engineering Center, our in-house backbone
application used company-wide to design and configure software projects for vessels around the world.
When something breaks, you're one of the people colleagues and customers turn to. You'll join a friendly,
cross-functional team based near Hamburg, working in an agile, pragmatic way with short decision-making
paths - and real ownership over what you build.
What you'll do
- Own the development and ongoing evolution of the Software Engineering Center, from requirements through design, implementation, testing, and rollout
- Work directly with colleagues across departments to understand their needs and turn them into reliable features
- Troubleshoot operational issues and fix bugs - your code runs on systems used company-wide, so quality and reliability matter
- Be a go-to person for colleagues, service technicians when things go wrong
Your profile
- Based in Hamburg, Germany, or currently residing elsewhere in Germany with willingness to relocate
- A relevant university degree in computer engineering or a related field, and/or solid professional experience
- 3–5 years building software with .NET (C#), with a track record of scalable, maintainable solutions
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git/SVN, Bamboo/Jenkins, and Bitbucket
- A pragmatic, analytical mindset — you can take a messy technical problem and turn it into a clear plan
- Strong communication skills; you're comfortable explaining technical trade-offs to both engineers and nontechnical colleagues
- A customer-first, quality-driven approach to your work
- Fluent German (C1); good working English
Why us?
- Be part of an exciting and pioneering maritime domain that's shaping the future of smart shipping and marine technology
- Embrace our "You build it, you run it" philosophy - take full ownership of your work and see your ideas come to life
- Benefit from an unlimited contract and a modern, inspiring workplace equipped with everything you need to thrive.
- Enjoy flexible working hours and the possibility of working remotely at least 2 days a week.
- Receive a comprehensive onboarding program and tailored training opportunities to support your professional development.
- Take advantage of a wide range of employee perks, including regular team events, a monthly Urban Sports Club membership allowance, German language course, company bike leasing, subsidized public transport tickets, mindfulness and meditation programs, and so much more!
