(Senior) Finance & Accounting Manager (f/m/d) – bunch capital
Berlin · Experienced
Posted today
Job description
We are recruiting for this position on behalf of our partner, bunch capital.
bunch is building the backbone of private markets, enabling next-generation fund operations through one integrated system that combines secure data infrastructure, AI-powered workflows, and expert fund services.
If you value ownership, growth through real responsibility, and working with a thoughtful and ambitious team, this role might be for you.
bunch is looking for a (Senior) Finance & Accounting Manager to be the backbone of its day-to-day financial operations.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role at the intersection of accounting, billing, payroll, and process improvement. You will be responsible for key financial operations, including preparatory accounting (vorbereitende Buchhaltung), spend management, and client invoicing across all bunch entities.
We are looking for someone with a strong accounting foundation who has expanded – or would like to further expand – into broader finance topics and take on more responsibility across the finance function.
You will gain direct exposure to the full finance function of a fast-growing fintech, report directly to the Head of Finance, and have the opportunity to grow your role within the Finance Team over time. Candidates with appropriate senior-level experience may join at Senior Manager level.
From day one, you will play a critical role in strengthening and optimising bunch’s financial operations as the company grows and scales across markets.
What You’ll Do
- Handle all our preparatory accounting (including assigning cost centers and cost units) on both the creditor and debtor side (Kreditoren- und Debitorenbuchhaltung) and be responsible for exports to our external accountants in all our jurisdictions
- Own our spend management processes, including weekly invoice review and approval, credit card and employee reimbursement management, and direct debit setup, and make sure we pay our bills on time
- Run quarterly and annual invoicing across all products and jurisdictions and take the lead on reducing manual effort by working with our analytics and other teams to improve and automate our invoicing setup. You'll also track client payments and flag overdue accounts
- Support our monthly close by coordinating with external accountants across all jurisdictions and entities, ensuring timely delivery of monthly and annual accounts and that our external partners always have what they need on time
- Support on our regular tax filings, such as for VAT, across our entities
- Conduct monthly payroll reviews and serve as the internal point of contact for payroll-related questions — including social security, health insurance, pension contributions, and employee benefits — as well as financial employee policies such as expense reimbursement
- Support equity financing rounds alongside Legal, Strategy, and FP&A — including due diligence and data room preparation. You'll also pick up one-off banking and insurance needs as they arise
What you bring
- At least 2–4 years of experience in an in-house finance role, reputable consultancy, or completed training as a tax clerk (Steuerfachangestellte/r) or accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter/in). This role has flexibility in its seniority — for more senior candidates beyond 5-6 years experience, we can offer a “Senior Manager” role
- Mastery of the fundamentals of accounting and familiarity with common tax issues arising in a multi-jurisdictional company
- Hands-on experience with accounting, billing, and spend management tools (e.g. DATEV, Stripe, Moss, Spendesk) or similar systems
- Highly organised and reliable, with a track record of owning recurring processes independently
- Genuine interest in process optimisation and automation — you notice inefficiencies and want to fix them
- Strong attention to detail and quality orientation
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and comfort handling new responsibilities
- High level of ownership, reliability, and flexibility
- SaaS and/or fund industry experience is a plus
- Fluency in English (C1+ level), at least B1 in German
- Be excited about working in a fluid, innovative, fast-paced, and creative environment and about being a part of bunch's culture
- Diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged
What we offer
- Competitive salary
- Customizable benefits package (wellbeing, sport, mobility, food, and more)
- 28 days of vacation, plus 2 company days and local public holidays
- Remote-flexible hybrid (3 days/week in office)
- Up to 4 remote calendar weeks a year
- Work with a diverse team of 120+ bunchies from 40+ countries, with leaders who are best-in-class in their domains
Hiring process
- People Team Interview (30 min) – Meet us & ensure mutual fit
- Deep Dive Interview (45 min) – Collaboration, ownership, and culture
- Case Study (90 min) – Technical skillset evaluation with our hiring manager
- Final Stakeholder Interview (60 min) – Meet your important stakeholders
